Steam Icons
Concept for adding icons to user-generated tags on the Steam store.
On the Steam store, games list features that they support with little icons to go with each feature (like achievements, controller support, etc). There’s also a system that allows users to tag a game with more specific items, like graphical style, gameplay features or narrative elements.
I created some icons based on a 20px grid to illustrate some of the tags and mocked up what it might look like. However, since the tags are user-generated, it would be difficult to keep up with all the variations and more obscure tags. The store could possibly keep a large database of icons with aliases for common related terms (similar to FontAwesome) and assign them automatically. I didn’t think too in-depth about it, since this was mostly an excuse for me to design some new icons for game-related stuff.
